Travel Dreams continued – Pilgrim’s Rest & Mac Mac Falls, Just Magnificent!

The Panorama Route is truly one of the most beautiful sights to see in South Africa. The second leg of our trip took us through to Pilgrim’s Rest. If you missed the first part, you can read it here.

When my boyfriend said we needed to find a place to stay over on our trip I started googling for different accommodation options. While Pilgrim’s Rest was a little more expensive than most of the other options, I knew I needed to stay there because of its history.

The entire town has been preserved as if it was still the days from when it was built. We ran into a few hiccups while staying there. For one, card machines either don’t work or don’t exist so cash is king, finding cash is quite a trip. So take cash!

We were just lucky that we had cash because otherwise, it would have been really awkward when we finished our dinner.

The next morning we set off for home but made one last stop at Mac Mac Falls. The entrance to view Mac Mac Falls is R10.00 per person and it is a very easy walk.

The view is just spectacular and the sound is soul calming. I could have sat on the platform overlooking Mac Mac Falls for an eternity. Small birds, maybe Swallows, darted in and out of the rainbow mist, it was heaven on Earth!

Once we finished our stop at Mac Mac Falls, I knew our trip was over. My heart felt heavier as we drove out the gates and back towards Johannesburg. It was the best 2 days of travel I have done this year so far. I have one more trip planned for the year before taking a break to be with family. Keep an eye out next week, we are heading to MalaMala Game Reserve for 3 days.

As always, thank you for reading.

With My Love,

Tyler
